Rashida Jones was born in Los Angeles,
California, the youngest daughter of media mogul, producer and musician Quincy
Jones and actress Peggy Lipton. Kidada Jones is her elder sister. She also has
five half-siblings derived from the other relationships her father had with his
family. Her father is African American and her mother Ashkenazi Jewish (a
descendant emigrants of Russia and Latvia). Rashida was raised Reform Judaism.
She grew up in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California. Jones claimed that her mixed-race
parentage was not accepted by the public until the 1970s. Jones began her debut
as a professional actor in The Last Don in 1997 an animated mini-series, which
was influenced by Mario Puzo. Rashida was also a Harvard University graduate in
1997. She attended the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, California. The most

Jewish heritage as well as Latvian Jewish heritage), is Rashida. Her paternal
grandparents were from South Carolina and Mississippi, respectively. Her
maternal grandfather was born in New York, and her maternal grandmother was
born in Dublin, Ireland, of Eastern European Jewish origin. In the year 2009,
she was playing three distinct characters with "Karen" in the iconic
sitcoms on TV: Freaks and Geeks (1999), Stella ((2005) and The Office ((2005)).
