Watts was born 28 September 1968. She made her film debut in Australia in For
Love Alone (1986) that was followed by three tv shows: Hey Dad.. (1990), Brides
of Christ (911) and Home and Away (1991) and Flirting (1991). Watts relocated
to America in 2000. She struggled initially as an actor. In reality, she was
only able to fill tiny roles in films, before becoming a aspiring actress in
David Lynch's Mulholland Drive psychological thriller. She gained international
recognition by playing the role. Watts was then cast as a tortured journalist
in The Ring (2002). For her portrayal of grieving mother in Alejandro film 21
Grams, she was nominated to win an Academy Award for Best Actress. Watts' star
power continued to grow with her appearance in I Heart Huckabees (2004). King
Kong (2006), Eastern Promises ((2007)) and The International (2009). As a
character in Maria Bennett in the disaster film The Impossible (2012), Watts
was awarded an additional Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. In the
decade of 2010, she starred in such films such as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent
(2014), While We're Young (2015), The Glass Castle (2017) as well as Luce
(2019). Watts was also a prominent character in blockbuster movies, appearing
in Divergent (2015)-2016.
