Rose McGowan

 

Rosa Arianna "Rose" McGowan (born September 5 1973) is an American actress and activist. McGowan's debut film appearance was in the comedic Encino Man (1992), but she earned more recognition for her role in The Doom Generation (1995) in which she was awarded an Independent Spirit Award nomination as Best Debut Performance. Her breakout role came in the film horror Scream in the year 1996. Her next film was the film Jawbreaker (1999) and Devil in the Flesh (2000). McGowan is most famous for her character in Charmed the supernatural drama series that aired on WB from 2001 until the year 2006. She was then cast in Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's double-feature film Grindhouse (2007) for which she was nominated to win the Saturn Award for Best Actress and the Scream Award for Best Scream Queen. McGowan was in the action thriller series Chosen (2014), and released her debut studio album, Planet 9, in 2018. It was followed by a repackaging in 2020. In 2017 Time acknowledged McGowan as one of the Silence Breakers, the magazine's Person of the Year for her stance on sexual harassment and assault particularly in relation to the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse cases and the Me Too movement. She's published an autobiography, Brave, and starred in the documentary series Citizen Rose, which consists of four parts. Citizen Rose, both in the year 2018.
