Robin Gayle Wright was born to Gayle
(Gaston), a national Director at Mary Kay and Freddie Wright. Her birthplace
was San Diego, California. At the age of 14, she started her professional
career as a model. She was a model in Paris and Japan. After graduating from
high school, she decided to become an actor. She got a role on the soap opera
Santa Barbara (1984), for which she was nominated three times for a Daytime
Emmy. She fell in love with Dane Witherspoon during the first season. They got
married in the year 1986. In 1987, she appeared in the role of the title
character in The Princess Bride. When she left Santa Barbara, she was offered
the lead role in Denial (1990) as well as Jason Patric. She was introduced to
Sean Penn in 1990 while she was appearing in State of Grace (1990). They had
their daughter Dylan Frances with him and a son called Hopper Jack. Robin was
back in Hollywood with Tara one of the most important roles in her career,
following an absence. She was stunning and flawless. She was in Toys (1992) the
film that was a comedy with Robin Williams. It was an extremely funny
performance. Wright appeared in 1994's blockbuster smash Forrest Gump (1994)
with Tom Hanks. As a result of her performance as Jenny she was awarded
nominated for a Golden Globe Award. The film gave her a small role in The
Crossing Guard (1995) in which she starred alongside Jack Nicholson. After
declining 14 roles she was cast in the title role of MGM/UA's Moll Flanders
(1996), directed by Pen Densham, and co-starring Morgan Freeman and Stockard
Channing. Then, she appeared alongside William Hurt in Erin Dignam’s Loved
(1997).
